Blame and Shame

Handing pointing the index finger

Blame and shame are the outtie and innie of not taking responsibility for your life.

Blame says there’s something wrong with you, and I can’t do anything about it.

Shame says there’s something wrong with me, and I can’t do anything about it.

Both positions assume that you’re utterly powerless, which isn’t true, nor is it particularly helpful.

You must heal the wound or become the wound.

Those are your options.

And I promise you, blame and shame are not part of the healing process.

Short blog post this week because I’m teaching a Saturday class “Transforming the Anxious + Avoidant Relationship.” If you missed it, you can still catch the replay here.
